TRI Lights

Project: Translational Research Institute, QLD | System: TRI Pendant Lighting

The Translational Research Institute in Woolloongabba, brings four of the country's pinnacle research facilities together with the aim of translating the findings of basic biomedical research into better patient outcomes. The Institute will allow - for the first time in Australia - biopharmaceuticals and treatments to be discovered, produced, clinically tested and manufactured in one location.

During the design stage KLIK Systems was approached to assist in the realisation of a conceptual, bespoke light fitting for the TRI building, by Jarred Lillywhite of Aurecon, the Lighting Engineers engaged for the project by Wilson Architects + Donovan Hill - Architects in Association.

The brief was specific and required certain criteria’s to be met including the colours, size and shape, the method of installation and also the assembly and final installation of the lights.

With over 950 luminaires manufactured and installed the finished ‘light stick’ appears deceptively simple, belying the intricacy of the underlying industrial design and engineering required to meet the exacting demands of the brief in every respect.
